13 Fiery Female Redhead Cartoon Characters and Style Icons

With Halloween (and National Redhead Day) fast approaching, we’re rifling through our repertoire of Halloween costumes with red hair. Animation is king when it comes to style inspiration, with our favourite redhead cartoon characters influencing fashion trends to this day. We’ve selected our very favourite animated redhead style icons to level up your look for the Autumn months to come.

Jessica Rabbit from Who Framed Roger Rabbit

“I'm not bad. I'm just drawn that way.” Enter the signature sultry siren of 80s animation. Roger Rabbit’s human wife is one of the best-known cartoon sex symbols, and for good reason. With an hourglass figure of impossible dimensions, heavily lidded (and lashed) eyes, and lips to rival Kylie Jenner’s, this OG Disney redhead has influenced female beauty standards for decades. Her pin-up inspired hair deserves a mention; vibrant red Hollywood waves with a signature side-parting. Get the look with our Hollywood Wave tutorial. Red hair not optional.

Misty from Pokemon

Gotta catch ‘em all. Any aspiring Pokemon trainer knew about Ash’s OG female companion. Misty personified the fiery red head, with extreme mood swings rivalling any of us on a Monday morning. Misty wears her spiky red hair in a side ponytail and has a distinct adoration for water Pokemon. Get Misty's look with a Yellow Tank Top, Denim Shorts, Suspenders, and a pair of Red Converse.

Daphne from Scooby Doo

The fashion queen from Mystery Inc is famous for her ginger locks, fashion sense and knack for getting into danger. Sitting at the interface between supermodel and detective, this redhead cartoon character is often a damsel in distress. Duplicate Daphne’s look with a purple mini-dress, pink pantyhose, purple shoes, and a green scarf.

Ariel from The Little Mermaid

Dive under the sea with our favourite Disney redhead. Ariel is an independent, headstrong, and determined young mermaid, spending her days exploring the ocean with Flounder the guppy fish. Her long red hair is globally renowned, as is her lavender seashell bra and shimmering green tail. Get Ariel’s mermaid waves with a set of bright red hair extensions.

Blossom from the Powerpuff Girls

Sugar, spice, and everything nice… The self-proclaimed leader of the three crime-fighting sisters prides herself on her fiery red hair and fringe, decorated with a red bow/highly explosive timer bomb. Smart and often self-centred, this redhead cartoon character is outgoing and intelligent. If you want to shoot pink lightning bolts and ice beams out of your eyes, Blossom’s your girl.

Jessie from Toy Story

This charismatic cowgirl stole our hearts in Toy Story 2. A feisty cartoon character with red hair and freckles, Jessie’s fiery locks are styled in a ponytail braid with a contrasting yellow bow. We are obsessed with this western look, especially her signature red cowboy hat and cow print flares. Although manifesting as a toy from the 1950s, Jessie certainly knows a thing or two about contemporary fashion.

Kim Possible

Kung fu crime fighter Kim is a redhead cartoon character with a Y2K twist. A cartoon many of us grew up with, this high school student doubles up as a freelance trouble-shooter. Often cited as a 90s style icon, Kim’s iconic look is a black crop top, green cargo pants and gloves. Kim’s red hair is heart shaped from the back and swept in a stylish side parting.

Elastigirl from The Incredibles

This stretchy super-hero is the star of the much-loved Incredibles franchise. A strong woman and even stronger mum, this Pixar/Disney redhead is a personality as well as a style icon. With curves for days and red hair styled in a typical mum bob, Elastigirl is a fashion force to be reckoned with in and out of her super suit.

Merida from Brave

One to make Scotland proud, Princess Merida is the headstrong and free-spirited 16-year-old heir to the fictional kingdom of DunBroch. A cartoon girl with red curly hair, her locks are truly something to behold, with a seeming ball of fire clouding her face at all times. To perfect this highland lass’s look, wear a luxurious long sleeved teal velvet dress and a bow and arrows on your shoulder. Shooting not necessary.

Anna from Frozen

Anna is the perfect fairy-tale character; a true optimist through and through. As long as her family and kingdom are safe, this Disney redhead is content. Anna’s signature two French plaits have been swapped in Frozen 2 for a more mature half-up half-down hairdo. The look is completed with two smaller braids pulling back her hair that frames her face. Her stunning outfits are based on traditional Norwegian gowns, dress up extra snug to really nail this Arendelle fantasy.

The ruler of the Fire Kingdom is as feisty as she is fiery. This redhead cartoon character has a short temper, trust issues, and a heat core that can destroy the world if overblown with emotions (we relate.) Flame Princesses hair is literally full of flames, with a variation of burning dresses to compliment her fiery exterior. To perfect this look, try painting yourself orange. Just don’t set yourself on fire!
