Wear Your Hair like Lauren Conrad

In 2009, American television personality, designer, and author Lauren Conrad took the decision to leave the show that had made her famous. On The Hills, she proved her ambition and demonstrated her diverse talents, but many still believed that the early departure was an unwise move. Well, skip forward almost eight years and Conrad has just released a new book.

Celebrate is an event planning bible for those who like their garden and dinner parties with a serious side of swish. There are ribbons, sparkles, and DIY projects aplenty though, so don’t be put off by its starry appeal. Though still very much a public figure, Conrad is happy to give up the limelight for a quiet life. She recently refused a chance to return to The Hills, with the confession that she thinks she’s rather too boring these days.

Fortunately, she has kept that superstar hair, so let’s take a closer look at some of her finest looks and styles.

The Retro Side Parting

We love this slightly retro style, with its off centre parting and that gorgeous piece of bling. It does rely on every hair being perfectly in place though, so you might want to get up early to put this one together. The key is straight and sleek, all over – get your irons out and then add a light, but high shine gloss to really pick out the warmest tones. If you’re planning to wear hair extensions, make sure that they’re sat just below the level of the parting. If they’re too high or a little wonky, you might be able to see the seams. Adding that bit of hair jewellery, close to ear, is an easy way to keep your hair tidy and together.

The Glamour Bangs

For a recent photoshoot, Conrad pulled out this awfully soft and pretty style, with undulating bangs that hang over the eyes. It is a little bit seventies and more than a touch of red carpet glamour, but it is still down to earth enough to wear to work or lunch. In fact, it would make a wonderful date ‘do. To get it looking flawless though, you need to wash your hair first and then blow dry it straight with a hairdryer and a big, round paddle brush. This bit is key, because the process will straighten your tresses, while also adding volume and bounce. You want the hair to fall delicately around your shoulders and frame your features too.

The Epic Chop

However, we now know that all of Conrad’s most recent looks must have had a helping hand from the hair extension fairy. She went for the chop not long ago, with the support of hairstylist to the stars Kristin Ess. This is a wonderful example of how girls can have the best of both worlds these days. You can very easily experiment with shorter hair – particularly choppy, textured styles – and then switch back to longer locks when you fancy them. All you need is some clip in hair extensions that are a compatible colour with your own hair. They’re easy to wear, blend seamlessly with natural hair, and they are comfortable too.

The Bridesmaid Braid

If there is one person that you’d be relieved to have at your wedding, it’s Lauren Conrad. Who better to have on the design team than this style maven? You can always trust her to rock up looking spectacular too. For her most recent stint as a bridesmaid, the reality star wore a delicate braid and bun combo. The French braid is characteristically thick and ‘rustic’ and it winds around one side of her head, before being tucked into a messy bun. It’s a look that isn’t overly polished or perfect. Rather, it’s soft, feminine, and ideal for a summer wedding.
