This year, Coachella festival was injected with a distinct sense of purple. It might not have been raining, but we reckon the musicians on stage responded to the unexpected loss of legendary icon, Prince, in the best way possible. They partied and they partied hard. The festival was awash with tributes to the star and they were as bright and colourful as you’d imagine.
There were plenty of lighter moments too and a whole lot of jaw dropping hairstyles to swoon over. Who can argue with that Jenner game, when Kylie has been providing us with some serious style inspiration for years now? She rocked up to Coachella 2016 with rainbow coloured extensions and we instantly fell in love with her ‘do – maybe she read our How to Get Rainbow Hair post
She wasn’t alone though, so let’s take a closer look at some of the finest hairstyles on show at Coachella this year.
We’ll start with Kylie Jenner, because she actually wasn’t the only one to try this style at Coachella. Kesha (below), who has been in the news a lot lately, seems to have found her smile again and gotten back to being a true fashion maven. Both of these lovely ladies wore light, delicate pastel colours in their extensions. The style is surprisingly low maintenance, even though it has that ‘great hair, don’t care’ vibe. You can mix and match clip in highlights at ClipHair, so it should be pretty easy to steal this look for yourself.
The Half Up, Half Down Hair Style
The ever elegant Vanessa Hudgens (above) looked flawless this year. She took festival chic to the max with dungarees and, ironically, the most laid back hairstyle in the world. This look is perfect for a festival, because all you need to do is split your hair into two sections. Then, take a hair tie and secure the top half in a high ponytail. Leave the bottom half tousled and free. If you’ve got a bit of a natural curl to your tresses, leave that to work its magic too. This style is all about the beachy, bohemian vibe.
The Taylor Swift Hair Do
Would any summer festival be complete without an appearance from the Queen of Cool herself? Just a few weeks ago, Taylor Swift gave us all a shock by lopping off even more of that blonde hair and turning it an edgy, icy peroxide blonde. We think she looks amazing, but it’s quite a bold and uncompromising style for ‘sweet as pie’ TayTay. If you’ve got the stones to follow her example though, you might just uncover your hidden diva. Our only advice is to stay far away from Kanye West and keep your celebrity beefs on the down low!
The Micro Braid Hairstyle
While last year may have been all about big, chunky fishtails, 2016 seems to be big on the micro braid, as rocked by Millie Mackintosh at Coachella (above). If you’re not sure how to steal this style; think subtle and delicate. Just a single thin braid, in an otherwise simple down ‘do is enough. Braid it close to the front of your head, so that you can tuck it behind your ear. In essence, it’s all about using braids as an accessory rather than the whole hairstyle. If you add a cute tie (or even some beads), you’ll be giving Beyoncé a run for her money in no time.
