The 2015 Emmy Awards was a glitzy and glamorous affair, but it was also a fairly ground breaking one. We saw Viola Davis become the first black woman to ever win an Emmy, for her role in How to Get Away with Murder. We saw Uzo Aduba (aka Crazy Eyes, from Orange Is the New Black) pick up an award and give an extremely emotional speech. Plus, comedian Andy Samberg kept it real as host, with a wealth of quips about racism, sexism, and ageism within the television industry.
Yet, the question is – who got it right when it came to red carpet hair? There are a handful of big names who can always be trusted to scrub up well (Sophia Vergara and Christina Hendricks come to mind), but there are usually more than a few wildcards as well (we’re looking at you Lady Gaga). To celebrate what turned out to be an evening of tears, triumphs, and terrific red carpet outfits, ClipHair are going to take a look at the best Emmy Awards hairstyles.
Taraji P. Henson
Whilst Henson may have eventually lost out to Viola Davis in the Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama category, she still rocked the event with a super contemporary asymmetric bob and frosted makeup. The angles on the bob might have looked a little too severe on anybody else, but Henson has the round features needed to pull the look off without appearing too sharp. The dead centre part down the middle gives it a slightly retro vibe, but the length makes sure that it stays modern.

Lady Gaga
Can you believe it? The freak of fashion herself turned up at the award show looking positively dreamy. This gorgeous and romantic platinum bob is at once, showgirl, old Hollywood siren, and ice cool fashion maven. There was not a hair out of place as she walked down the red carpet and we actually think that this might be our favourite look of the whole evening. If you want to steal it, add extra volume to the back of your locks with a short hair extension and then gently tease it into rollers – wear overnight for delicate fifties style curls.
Emma Roberts
With the latest series of American Horror Story and a starring role alongside Lady Gaga in the pipeline, it is fair to say that Emma Roberts is keeping herself busy – she also recently become the face of lingerie company Aerie Real. She looked tremendous on the red carpet at the Emmy Awards; all side swept perfection and blonde beauty. To create this asymmetric look, her stylist had to blow dry her tresses, set the curls with duck bill clips, and then gently brush out the romantic curls and waves.

Sarah Paulson
The cast of American Horror Story dominated the event this year, with Jessica Lange leading the charge as ‘chief of the twisted brood.’ We love this hairstyle on Sarah Paulson, who tends to favour simple and elegant looks which widen her face and tone down the sharpness of her features. This bob is lovely, because it combines two of the hottest hair based trends of the year; the wet look and short crop. The off centre parting and the slight flick at the back make sure that this look stays interesting.
