Authored By Cliphair Extensions

So we usually look at hairstyles and celebrity fashion but today I thought we would do something a little different. We are heading into the season of festivals ad where there is festivals there are extensions (many, many extensions) and accessories. We all know that getting tickets, tents and a ride to events isn’t cheap so we thought we would walk you through a step-by-step way to create some accessory gems. Today we are going to look at one of my favourite hair accessories at the moment word hair pins. These amazing grips can have your name or and word you like. It is amazingly easy to do so keep reading and get ready for a unique accessory.

Get your kit together

There is no point starting something and then realising you don’t have all the things you need to make your accessory, come on guys let’s face it going into a craft store twice in the span of half an hour is just embarassing. So let’s get your things together so you are ready for action. Hair pins and brushes are obvious essentials, get some extra pins incase things don’t go right the first time and colour by nature brushes are great. You will also need some acrylic paint and some great craft glue, E6000 GLUE and ACRYLICOS VALLEJO acrylic paints are fabulous and mainly vegan for those concerned. The letters should be easy enough to pick up at larger hobby craft stores. Now you have all that you need cover your table for protection and let the DIY craft fun begin.

Securing

Once you have chosen your letters and have made sure they fit on your pin it is time to grab out the glue. Place your letter upside down and put the glue on the back of your letters and place your hair grip on top. Don’t be afraid to apply glue generously we want it to be strong. Putting it upside down is far less messy. If you are impatient or short of time blow dry your clips so the glue dries faster.

Paint to perfection

Now it is time to paint. As these pins are so thin I would recommend keeping all of it one colour but if you are very good with a paintbrush by all means paint the letters a different colour to the hairpin. Be aware that you will probably need at least two coats of paint to make this as bold and beautiful as you want it. If you are hair drying at this point make sure that you don’t cause the paint to develop ripples and look funny. The best way to let it dry is to naturally dry overnight. Some amazing colour ideas are gold, silver, metallic black or rose gold. Pretty and on trend to wow your friends!
