Steal Her Style- Kate Winslet Edition

Kate Winslet is, without a doubt, one of the best actresses out there. She has had so many amazing films like Titanic and the dressmaker. If you like Avatar you will be happy to know that Kate Winslet is rumoured to be playing a character named Ronal in Avatar 2, which is filming right now. She always chooses interesting characters to play and usually looks so glamorous doing it. In today’s blog, I want to share with you some of my favourite Kate looks from instagram. If you want to be inspired by the queen of the screen, keep on reading.

Glamorous down to the roots

When you are hanging out with Wonder Woman, like Kate is here a little bit of hair magic is required. This is certainly not a look that you would rock on an average day but if you are going to a black tie event, it is a show stopper. The trick to this style is to add volume everywhere. Kate has clearly had her roots more than a little teased and putting a few hair extension pieces in who help you get a smooth crown. Once this is swept back it would time to add somebody to the ends by curling them so there is no need to worry about blending your hair extensions too much.

Natural waves

If you want your waves to look natural like Kate’s then I have one word for you, mousse. Once you have brushed out any tangles it is time to scrunch some mousse into your locks. If you need to use heated tools I find adding mousse beforehand helps make them slightly more wild and natural. No matter what your hair type is this trick seems to work perfectly and is a low fuss.

Feeling that 40’s vibe

This is a picture of Kate playing an utterly strong and fabulous woman from the 1940’s called Mildred Pierce. The hair and makeup department did an epic job recreating the 40’s vibe on Kate. You don’t need a whole team to recreate this look for yourself, just curlers, pins and a lot of hairspray. The original looks would have used curlers but there is no reason you can’t make it a bit quicker and use hair serum and heated tools. We did a 40’s inspired tutorial a little while ago so if you are inspired to go a little vintage for a night out search 40’s in the search section on Cliphair’s blog page.

High flying updo

If you want to stand out and make your work looks a bit more interesting, this one is for you. Work is never as fun as going out but that doesn’t mean you can’t look and feel good getting ready for it. A red lipstick has been a girl’s best friend since lipsticks were invented but if you really want your style to pop, finish it with a killer hairstyle. Bring the sides and bottom of your hair tightly into a bun and loosely add the top section. It sounds simple but looks awesome.
