Sometimes, having great hair can be a tough job. While there is no shortage of ways to make your tresses look shiny, happy, and healthy, actually finding the time (especially early in the morning) can be tricky. Who wants to spend an hour in front of the mirror before heading off to work? Or even worse, primping and preening while on the morning commute?
For parties, weekend brunches, and nights on the town, complex and fiddly styles work wonderfully, but for the everyday stuff, simple looks are often most appreciated. The good news is that there are plenty of style secrets that you can use to get your locks feeling bouncy and strong within mere minutes.
Keep reading for some of our favourite hair care and hair styling tips that you can work wonders with in just a minute two.
Keep a Pretty Clip Handy
Cute hair slides, grips, pins, and barrettes are really useful for those days when you want to have a hairstyle that pops, but you haven’t got the time to tweak and adjust it. For instance, if you’re in a hurry, but you can’t get those awkward bangs to sit right, place a stylish clasp or clip and add some sparkle.
Experiment with Hair Masques
It takes just five minutes to apply and set an all-natural, completely organic hair masque. You can, either save yourself some time and buy one from a beauty store or you can mash together avocado, honey, and egg whites to make your own. Apply it directly to the hair after you have washed out the shampoo and leave for 3-5 minutes.
Try a Braided Updo
The braid is one of our favourite styles, because it comes in such variety. There are French braids, Dutch braids milkmaid braids, fishtail braids, halo braids and more. For a super simple ‘hair rescue’ on a busy morning, draw the hair up into a simple French braid and secure it tightly. Spritz with high gloss hairspray.
Go Gaga for Clip in Extensions
Unlike traditional tape extensions, clip in hair extensions take just minutes to apply. They come with easily attached grips or slides, which are carefully positioned in the middle of the head (from one ear to the other). A top section of natural hair is then used to cover the seam, so that the extensions become almost indistinguishable from your hair.
Tease a Little for Lift
Gently backcombing sections of hair is a stress-free way to add volume and lift. Plus, if you’re also wearing hair extensions, you’ll have the body to make Kim Kardashian jealous. Backcombing works really well close to the front of hair, so if you’ve had your eye on a barely there quiff, this is the way to get it. Team the look with a smoky eye for ultimate drama.
Protect from the Sun
Even if you’re not heading off on holiday somewhere exotic this year, it is still important to protect your tresses from the stresses of the sun. The UVA/UVB rays can wreak havoc on the health of lengths, ends, and follicles. So, pick up a high quality protective spray that is designed for everyday use and give your hair that extra bit of boost and shine.
