Steal Her Style – Nathalie Emmanuel

If the name Nathalie Emmanuel does not ring any bells, how about Missandei from Game of Thrones or Ramsey from Fast and Furious 7? We bet that you have heard of them, and if you have, you are already familiar with the beautiful Nathalie Emmanuel. This charming starlet might have started her career as a regular on TV soap Hollyoaks, but she has really started to make a name for herself in Hollywood now.

She’s due to appear in the next instalment of the Maze Runner franchise and, of course, we’ll see her return as interpreter Missandei next year when series six of Game of Thrones hits our screens. As a strong black woman, Emmanuel has received a lot of attention for her look – particularly her hair, as there are few women of colour who choose to wear their tresses natural and curly like she does.

The Bright Young Thing

After leaving Hollyoaks, Nathalie had a brief stint on popular drama Misfits. This is one of the few times that she wore her hair straight and it gives her a very fresh and youthful appearance. We really like this style here at ClipHair, because the shoulder length curls and chocolate highlights flawlessly frame her face and soften her features. It looks like a low maintenance style, but this is not her natural hair, so there are definitely some high quality hair extensions involved. The Faux Mohawk Fade

This is one of our favourite styles, because it is so ambitious and more than a little rock and roll. She has gone back to her natural curls, but gathered them up into a super cool ‘Mohawk’ like up ‘do and then finished the look off with a faux side fade. The tight braids on either side of the hairstyle are what balance out the top heavy Mohawk and Nathalie Emmanuel really wows here. This is a creative, fun, and versatile way to wear curly hair and we love it.

The Contemporary Afro

There are plenty of times when Nathalie just lets her curls loose and goes with the flow – or the bounce, should we say. Whilst it should not have to feel refreshing to see a woman of colour choose to wear her hair naturally, it’s still unusual in Hollywood, so the actress is making a statement with her tresses even if she doesn’t intend to. She looks fabulous too, with a winning smile, and healthy shiny locks which end around her ears, so do not look over heavy or over styled.

Well, it makes sense to think that all that bounce and volume might be a little too much sometimes – this is when the hottest interpreter in Meereen takes things down a notch and throws her hair into a simple but elegant topknot. With minimal makeup, a contemporary ‘high street’ outfit, and a pared down look, Nathalie gets a chance to let her true beauty shine. She has quite a long face, but by positioning the bun (or topknot) not too high and not too low, she avoids the misstep of lengthening her features further.
