Top 10 Habits to Get you Through the Mini-Lockdown

So here in the UK, we face another (mini) lockdown. We now have a 10pm curfew which means it’s now more important to use our time wisely. We now know what it’s like being confined at home for months at a time so this time, we want to make sure we make the most of it.

Wondering how to make the most of your time during this mini lockdown? Perhaps you need a new morning routine for yourself, or maybe you’d like to organise your days better, whatever your needs maybe, it’s important to remember to personalise your routine to your unique preferences and goals.

We now know what it’s like being confined at home for months at a time so this time, we want to make sure we make the most of it.

1. Set up a work area if you haven’t already

As many of us continue to work from home, uncertain of when we will be back to normal. So, it’s very important to find a work area, perhaps even get a desk if you haven’t got one already. Doing this will give you space to focus, limit distractions and helps you get into the right frame of mind.

2. Start your day earlier to get things done

Since we have a 10pm curfew, we now have less time in the to socialise or enjoy being out of the house till late. Start your day earlier than usual to give you more time. If someone who enjoys eating out, perhaps swap dinners for brunch so you have the rest of the day to enjoy being out.

3. Schedule some me time

It’s easy to have an unbalanced work/social life when working from home and if you found yourself working late often, then be sure to schedule some me time during your day. This can be ensuring you follow your skin care routine, reading a book or fitting in 20 minutes of exercise or meditation.

4. Organise your day

As many of us continue to work from home, uncertain of when we will be back to normal. So, it’s very important to find a work area, perhaps even get a desk if you haven’t got one already. Doing this will give you space to focus, limit distractions and helps you get into the right frame of mind.

5. Avoid oversleeping

With the option of a lie-in due to not having to commute, it’s easy for us to begin waking up later and some of us may have even become accustomed to hitting the snooze button on the alarm. Falling asleep again after the time you intended to wake up risks you falling into deep sleep again, making it even more difficult to wake up a little bit later. Try using a sleep calculator that will tell you the best times to go bed and wake up revived at your chosen time.

6. Stay social

Our phones and being connected online can often distract us. In order to keep in touch with friends and family, set time aside where you socialise and keep you phone on Do Not Disturb the rest of the day when working. It’s best to schedule this in the evening when you can relax a little. Having a quick chat with a close person quickly put a smile on your face.

7. Get into the habit of writing things down

Writing things down is a good way to remember things but can also be a fantastic way to clear your thoughts or even plan your day or your future. Besides, you can also start into the habit of writing positive things down which will certainly help you have a positive mindset each day.

8. Learn something new

Spend time to hone an old hobby or set aside some time each day to study, watch, and learn a new craft or hobby. Even 10-15 minutes will go a long way in helping you find something new you love, and the time will certainly pass by quicker when you’re learning new things or doing something you love to do.

9. Get outside

We now have more freedom than previously when it comes to how much often and how long we can be out. It’s easy to enjoy the comfort of your house rather than outside (now that it’s cold), but it’s important to keep making sure you spend some time outide, whether you’re taking your dog for a walk or going on a short jog, getting outside in the fresh air will help set a positive and energized tone for your day.

10. Look after your hair

Although we are home and not seeing that many people in the outside world, how we look can still affect how we feel. Learn some new hairstyles, make sure you are treating your hair and hair extensions well. Having a good hair day always makes an impact on how we feel throughout the day.
