Knot braid hairstyle tutorial

I love braids but I have to admit even I get a little sick of Dutch, French and fishtails after a while. I felt like trying something new this week which got me thinking about trying something a little different, knots. This look is super easy and I haven’t tried it in years which made me super excited to give it a go again. I have tried this with both curly and straight, long and shorter hair and it has always looked great. It is also brilliant if you want to keep your hair out of your face but still wants to enjoy having a style that you can show off your gorgeous length at the back. This step-by-step tutorial couldn’t be easier. So, keep reading and don’t forget to #wearcliphair and show off your amazing looks.

Step number 1: preparation

This look is perfect if you have just come out of the shower, if not that is not a problem I am going to show you how to easily manage your locks and prepare them for this style. The first thing you need to focus on is your Cliphair extensions. You want to add your extensions so your hair looks lovely and thick but make sure you are placing them accurately if you are using clip in extensions. You want to use roughly half your set from ear level down so they are concealed. Next, create a centre part.

Step number 2: divide and conquer

Divide a large section on one side of your part, from your hairline until your ear. Tie the rest of your hair out of the way. Spray your section with water so that it is damp but not completely wet. Take a one-inch section from the top of your divided section. Divide this one-inch section in half and loop the halves around each other, pulling them tight like you would your shoelaces. Put a bobby pin through the knot to keep it in place. Pick up more hair from your front section and divide it in half as well. Spray it with more water if it is getting dry then loop the half around each other again with the knot being about an inch below your first knot. Once again secure by putting a bobby pin through your knot.

Step number 3: repeat, repeat, repeat

Repeat this process of looping, knotting and securing, until you get behind your ears and pin it in place with a bobby pin. Now you can move onto the other side of your head and do exactly the same thing. If you can try and get your knots to end in the same place that would be great, so they look symmetrical. Once you have your knot braids secured behind your ears you can remove the ones that were provisionally holding your knots in place. You can take the rest of your hair down and either leave it natural or straighten it, either way, looks great. You are done so enjoy your knot braids!
